Hapé, or Rapé (pronounced ha-PAY), is a sacred shamanic snuff made from finely ground tobacco mixed with other plant ingredients, often used by indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest. The main ingredient is usually a variety of tobacco known as Nicotiana rustica, which has a much higher nicotine content than common tobacco. Other plants, seeds, and ashes are often added to create unique blends, each with distinct effects and purposes.
